Hunger hides in every community. But when you work with me, I root it out and make a real difference—whether at the national level or on the ground where you live and do business.

And together, we spread the message of Food Dignity® so everyone can hear.

25% of kids are plagued by food insecurity, which means they lack reliable access to nourishing food. That’s 1 in every 4.

In this TEDx talk, I debunk some popular myths about food insecurity, revealing the hidden causes of this problem—and the solutions that are making a difference.

Food Dignity® Movement:
A New Paradigm to Address Food Insecurity

Clancy dramatically shifts the conversation around food, health, and social responsibility so that audience members can increase their connection, collaboration, and responsibility. With a mix of her trademark vulnerability and courage, Clancy shares how, as a registered dietitian serving primarily white, affluent families, she woke up to her food elitism. Clancy has made it her mission to inspire to acknowledge their unintentional role in perpetuating food injustice.

She shows audiences how to reflect on their own assumptions and biases so they can advocate for what she has branded the Food Dignity® Movement in their organizations, communities, and families. Clancy will (re)awaken audience members' sense of individual and collective responsibility to make Food Dignity® a realized, human right for everyone.

By the end of this keynote, audiences will:

  • Demystify how food insecurity impacts everyone and its surprising prevalence in middle-class American communities.
  • Identify assumptions and misconceptions associated with hunger that unintentionally hurt their clients, patients, employees, and/or students.
  • Cultivate the mindset, communication, and leadership skills to teach people how to access community resources.

Improve Employee Health and Performance Through the Food Dignity® Movement

While employee stress has never been higher, one key contributor to this lack of employee well-being is rarely discussed: food. In this dynamic keynote designed for organizational leaders and those responsible for employee wellness and productivity, Clancy examines the critical role food plays in employee health and performance.

Clancy uncovers why most companies are unaware of their employees’ “food stress,” how food insecurity is a hidden reality for too many workers, and why addressing people’s access to nourishing food is the profitable thing to do. She shares strategies companies can use to practically address healthy food access so they reduce absenteeism and presenteeism, boost individual and overall company productivity, minimize healthcare costs and turnover, and increase customer loyalty and revenue.

By the end of this keynote, audiences will:

  • Discover a simple and proven framework to inspire a healthy workforce and improve access to healthy food for everyone.
  • Create a new mindset and skill set that shifts the conversation and approach for worksite wellness programming.
  • Learn strategies that improve morale, trust, and engagement in the workplace.

Create Community Collaborations to Foster Food Dignity® Movement

The United Nations calls “collaboration critical... if we are to create a more inclusive, just, and sustainable world.” If you are a corporate, healthcare, government, nonprofit or educational leader, and your work is rooted in creating a more inclusive, just, and sustainable world, then it's vital to address the food and nutrition problems plaguing too many young people, working professionals, and older adults.

Food Dignity® expert, Clancy Harrison, knows that solving our global and national food insecurity crisis demands partnership and leadership from all institutions and sectors. But in order to do this, diverse stakeholders need to be able to come together, listen to one another, and play together nicely. Clancy shows audience members how to collaborate with their own professional and personal bubbles in order to create effective collaborations within the community.

By the end of this keynote, audiences will:

  • Develop ultra-practical solutions to build relationships and partnerships that meaningfully move the needle to improve food access.
  • Discover the top 7 questions to answer before embarking on a collaboration or partnership.
  • Explore successful examples of how effective collaborations have improved health outcomes for a variety of communities.
