About Patrick ONeill

Patrick O'Neill's career spanned both the private and public sectors, for-profit and non-profit enterprises, privately held firms, and public companies across real estate, energy, and technology industries. He is the founder and currently serves as the CEO of Amp Your Good and the board chair of Food Bank News. Patrick is also the executive director of Stop the Bleed Project.

Discussion Takeaways

  • Stop the Bleed is a public health campaign to help people learn what to do in a bleeding emergency. It is similar to CPR that you train people what to do if they encounter somebody who is bleeding.
  • There was no publication or media coverage about food banks and food pantries. The mission of Food Bank News is to provide good reporting in that space and become a viable media authoritative presence.
  • Food as medicine is not a new concept. There are certainly many programs that fit neatly under the idea of it.
  • Food as medicine is about looking at the end-user or the person who needs food assistance to give them the right food to be helped with or assisted with.
  • Food dignity is treating the people you are trying to assist with fundamental respect. Respect them as human beings and their opinion, and treat them the same way you want to be treated.

#1 tip to improve access to healthy food

To successfully donate fresh produce, ensure it’s delivered in high-quality condition with some shelf life remaining. This supports food pantries and banks in their mission to provide healthier food options to the community.
