Discussion Takeaways
- Summer meals are a time when we need to reach out and support, ensuring programs are designed to meet the community's needs due to low participation rates.
- Food is inherently neutral, serving as a necessity not only for nutrition but also to connect us to our land, waters, culture, history, community, and memory.

- Food sustains us by nourishing our bodies, spirits, and communities. It is foundational to human life and a fundamental right.
- Some entities use food to control others, whether by withholding basic nutrition, limiting essential resources, or forcing people to work the land to produce food for others.
- The beauty of collaboration lies in forming teams that combine expertise, lived experience, and academic knowledge.
