Discussion Takeaways

  • Clancy's concern for social justice issues, immigration issues, worker issues, water privatization, and the impact of animal agriculture on the animals, workers, and the environment, led her to create an organization that looks at all these issues.
  • A worker-owned cooperative means that the money stays in the community. It doesn't only create jobs; it ensures a sustainable future for residents, empowering them with entrepreneurial skills to start new businesses.
  • The power, voice, and determination to stand up against major systems are all in the community.
  • Food is used as a tool to control and oppress.
  • The impact of colonization in the dairy industry: There is a lack of understanding that not everyone has the same body as a white European. For some, an inability to digest dairy products has grave impacts on health.
